Great question!  We recommend creating a dedicated "Work" Calendar then sharing that with your friends.  To make sure they don't get bombarded with alerts every time you sync with CWA, they can disable change alerts on that specific "Work" calendar.  They'll need to do this on every device they have that calendar on.  Here's how:
